Bursaries
A part of the Girl’s Day School Trust, with around a fifth of all girls across the group receiving financial assistance towards fees, Wimbledon High offers bursaries for entrants at Years 7 and 12. It expects that a total family income of around £42,500 a year would make a girl eligible for a full bursary, and then on a sliding scale upwards at the school’s discretion. There is some consideration of academic ability in the decision to award bursaries, although once awarded a bursary is expected to remain for the student’s entire time at the school, with yearly reviews of the amount awarded.
Usually bursaries range from 100 per cent to 30 per cent on a sliding scale, and scholarships (music, sport and sixth form) and bursaries can be combined. The school receives more demand for bursaries than it is able to provide, so competition should be taken into account.
