Bursaries
City of London School offers generous but highly competitive bursary provision. It is important to note that these places are available only to families who live in London or the near surrounds, and the school excludes families who relocate specifically to receive bursaries. Full-fee bursaries cover 100 per cent of tuition fees and are generally only available at 11+ or 16+. These bursaries are awarded where family income is below £45,000 per annum and assets are very limited. Further financial assistance (to cover items such as uniform, travel, lunch, etc) may be awarded on a case-by-case basis, and there are additional thresholds at £50,000 per annum (up to 75 per cent of fees) and £70,000 per annum (up to 25 per cent of fees).
Places are subject to the successful meeting of all other academic entrance requirements and the school is clear that demand regularly exceeds the available places. Annual financial statements are required by the school from recipients of bursaries and it may visit applicants at home.
