Bursaries
A part of the Girl’s Day School Trust, with around a fifth of all girls across the group receiving some form of financial assistance towards fees, Brighton Girls offers bursaries for entrants at Year 7 and Year 12. As a guide, they expect that a total family income of around £35,000 a year would make a girl eligible for a full bursary, with an upper limit of around £85,000. There is some consideration of academic ability in the decision to award bursaries, although once awarded a bursary is expected to remain for the student’s entire time at the school, albeit with yearly reviews of the amount awarded.
The school is clear that a key factor in deciding the recipients of bursarial support is academic performance, expecting successful applicants to have ‘performed exceptionally well’ in their Year 7 assessment day.
