Bursaries
Wellington College offers two categories of bursarial provision; Means Tested Bursaries for children with exceptional talents and life changing fully funded bursaries through the Prince Albert Foundation for children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to access independent education.
Up to 20 awards ranging from 10-100% might be awarded each year through the 13+ and 16+ admissions processes through the Means Tested Bursaries. While not linked to scholarships some awards are named, such as the Sir Anthony Seldon Arts Award for talented artists, performers and musicians, or the Jimmy Higham Award for those showing talent in sports.
Through the Prince Albert Foundation, the College aims to fully fund or heavily subsidise up to 40 places at the College at one time for children who would benefit from access to an independent education. Typically candidates eligible for these awards would be in the maintained sector and come from families with income less than the national average. Rather than linking these awards to exceptional talents, candidates would be expected to meet the minimum entry criteria, with assessment of potential very much part of the process.
