Bursaries
As a Catholic Benedictine School, St Benedict’s is committed to supporting families from all backgrounds in order to provide a first class education to deserving pupils who would normally not be able to afford independent education. While the school's current bursary pot is £700,000, it aims to increase the provision of bursaries year on year. It is hugely important to the School to support young people to perform to the best of their ability, provide them with great opportunities to flourish and see them succeed in their academic and co-curricular careers, no matter their financial circumstances or background.
Pupils do not need to win a scholarship in order to be considered for a bursary. Performance in the entrance assessments is taken into consideration, alongside financial circumstances, but also how the pupil can contribute to the life of the School in a variety of ways. St Anselm Awards are offered to pupils who excel in their academic, musical or sporting endeavours, but would not be able to afford to come to the School even on a partial bursary. These cover the total cost of fees and contribute toward uniform and music lessons. In some circumstances a contribution is also offered toward school trips.
The school considers families for partial bursaries who have a joint income of £100k per year or less, or St Anselm Awards for families whose income is £60k or less. These figures are approximate and a holistic view is taken of family circumstances.
