ISSOS

One of the longest running summer programmes in the UK, ISSOS is a cultural, academic and language holiday camp for children from the ages from 13-18, offered at three of the most inspirational and exciting university towns in the UK and the US, St Andrews, Cambridge and Yale.

Learning certainly isn’t boring here, with courses all about delivering a balanced curriculum to educate hearts and minds, punctuated with plenty of action-packed adventure. Students choose one academic and one elective subject to focus on (totalling 80 hours of tuition) during the programme, balancing that with sport and cultural activities, including tennis, watersports, Scottish country dancing and jaunts to local cities to get under the skin of the area. Teachers are true experts in their fields, with plenty of real-life experience in the varied subjects on offer – everything from business and entrepreneurship to English language and debating.

Internationalism is at the heart of ISSOS’s ethos, and the three-week programmes are open to students from all across the world. Each year, ISSOS welcomes over 80 different nationalities to its summer schools (each nationality is limited to 10 per cent of the total intake at the site to ensure a good international mix). Best of all, native and non-native English speakers are mixed together not just in the classroom but in their accommodation too, ensuring everyone leaves with a new gang of friends from all corners of the globe.
