Originally founded as part of Reading Abbey, highly selective state boarding academy Reading School has been educating boys for almost 900 years. Competitive at entry, results are astounding at exit: last year, a third of boys achieved three or more A*s at A-level. Boarding is a small but important part of life here, and the school’s two boarding houses can accommodate up to 12 pupils per year group (lucky sixth formers get their own rooms).
