Harrow School

Harrow is part of that rare breed: one of the four remaining all-boys, full-boarding schools left in the UK. Smaller and sportier than Eton but bang on par when it comes to jaw-dropping facilities, sensational academics and extraordinary opportunities, it is fuller than ever and, increasingly, many parents’ first choice. In 2022, the school celebrated its 450th anniversary, with a slew of transformative building projects and bursary fundraising initiatives to mark the momentous event – now is a very exciting time to be part of such an impressive school.  It’s no ...

    Bursaries
Harrow operates a variety of sponsored bursaries and scholarships that are more tailored than some other schools’ programmes, requiring applicants to live in certain areas or to be proficient in certain skills or disciplines. Bursaries are means-tested against prospective parents’ finances.

John Lyon’s Charity Bursaries are available to boys who have been resident in Barnet, Brent, Camden, the City of London, Ealing, Harrow, Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea or Westminster for more than two years and are at least Key Stage 2 with a minimum score of 110 (if they are in a state primary school) or expected to achieve at least 70 per cent as an average pass mark at Common Entrance (if they are at a prep school). Applications are open to boys who will be entering Year 7 and must be made by early October of Year 6.

Peter Beckwith Scholarships are offered to boys who excel in sport, music, drama or another creative activity and who could be expected to achieve Oxbridge admission. Applications are open to boys who will be entering Year 7 and must be made by early October of Year 6.

Sherwood Scholarships are available to boys who live in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire or Leicestershire and are at least Key Stage 2 with a minimum score of 110 (if they are in a state primary school) or expected to achieve at least 70 per cent as an average pass mark at Common Entrance (if they are at a prep school). Applications are open to boys who will be entering Year 7 and must be made by early October of Year 6.

There are also Year 9 bursaries available to strong candidates who are the sons of serving British armed-forces members or Old Harrovians.

Harrow introduced Churchill Places from September 2020, where one pupil, fully supported by the Harrow Development Trust, joins Harrow in the sixth form. A second will join Heath Mount Prep School in Hertfordshire in Year 7, and be fully supported for two years prior to joining Harrow.

It is worth noting that while Harrow’s bursary scheme can cover up to 100 per cent of fees, all scholarships and awards are capped at just 5 per cent of fees.
