Heathfield School applauds students for their outstanding GCSE achievements
Heathfield School – rated ‘Excellent’ across all areas by the Independent Schools Inspectorate – is applauding all its GCSE students and staff for their hard work, drive and commitment, reflected in this year’s outstanding achievements.
Students are celebrating having surpassed their predicted grades by a wide margin, with a value added score (1) of 1.32 higher than the predicted grades in each subject. This was reflected in great results across the board, including 30% of all grades awarded at 9 or 8, and half of all grades awarded at 9-7.
Stand out performances include:
- Kokoro, who as well as excelling in her studies with six 9s and an A in Additional Maths (equivalent to A-level) completed a medical internship as a volunteer in Nepal, shadowing GPs, surgeons and nurses as they did ward rounds, performed operations and general primary care. This summer she is continuing with her volunteering in Tanzania.
- Sushi, scored an outstanding five 9s, four 8s and an A in Additional Maths, while being totally immersed in all other aspects of school, in particular drama and sport.
- Annabel celebrated her academic talents with top marks in Maths, Photography and PE, alongside competing at national level in sport.
- Mafalda - who initially joined the school for just one year in Year 7, but loved it so much she stayed - achieved excellence with six 9s, four 8s and a B in Additional Maths.
Additionally, the exceptional GCSE results included students taking Additional Mathematics Qualification, an examination above GCSE standard, in which they achieved over 85% at grade A, and Form IV students who took language examinations early, achieving 100% of grades at 7-9, with 94% achieving grade 9.
From Additional Maths to Art, French, Classical Greek and Chinese, this year’s GCSE cohort at Heathfield have had the opportunity to choose from 15 optional subjects in addition to core GCSEs such as Maths, English and Science, reflecting the school’s dedication to providing a personalised education that allows students to pursue their individual interests and passions, whilst benefitting greatly from small class sizes.
Commenting on this year’s achievements, Headmistress, Sarah Rollings said, ‘Congratulations to all our amazing students. This year’s excellent results reflect the commitment and determination of the students and the dedication of all the staff here at Heathfield. Heathfield is a small school offering big opportunities. All our students are encouraged to follow their own unique paths and passions, and are always supported to realise their potential to achieve both inside and outside the classroom.’
With GCSEs under their belts, students are looking forward to moving on to the superb opportunities available in Heathfield’s Sixth Form, which offers bespoke subject timetabling, mentoring and wide opportunities for co-curricular activities and leadership within the community.
On Wednesday 25th September, the school will be hosting prospective students and their parents at the Sixth Form Open Evening. The evening will include presentations by the Headmistress and Sixth Form staff, followed by a tour of the state-of-the-art Cadogan Sixth Form Centre, facilities and school.
