An incredible doubling of A* grades a cause for celebration at St George’s

St George’s Ascot continues to maintain the excellent A Level standards achieved in 2023 following a set of impressive grades achieved by its Upper Sixth Pupils.

A third of all A Level grades awarded were at A* or A grade with double the number of A* grades compared to 2023. Of particular note were the outstanding results in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) with 47% at A* and 71% at A*/A. The Sixth Form pupils at St George’s study three A Levels alongside the EPQ which is highly regarded by universities as it provides the opportunity to learn valuable independent research skills and experience undergraduate-style study while expanding knowledge in an area of personal interest.

88% of our Upper Sixth leavers have secured places at their universities of choice including the University of Oxford, Bristol, Durham, Exeter, Imperial College, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bath, Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, The University of the Arts, London and The Courtauld Institute of Art to study a range of courses including Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Neuroscience, Economics, Accounting and Finance, PPE, Marketing and Management, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Nursing, History, English Literature, French, International Relations, Music and Fine Art.

Top performers include Charlotte who achieved A*A*A* and has secured a place at Imperial College, London to study Chemistry with a year in industry and Oona who achieved A*A*A and is looking forward to studying French at the University of Oxford.

Liz Hewer, Head, commented ‘All of the St George’s staff are very proud of this impressive cohort of pupils who have contributed a huge amount, and set a fantastic example, to the younger girls over their years with us. Through their hard work, and with the support of the committed staff with whom they have developed strong relationships, they have excelled in a wide range of areas and interests exemplified by the diversity of exciting pathways they will now follow. We wish them all the very best as they move on into their lives beyond St George’s.’

St George’s is a thriving independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18 offering an ambitious, connected and future-facing education tailored for girls to realise their potential both at school and in fulfilling adult lives ahead.

Awarded ‘excellent’ in its November 2022 ISI inspection, the report speaks of pupils demonstrating ‘healthy self-knowledge, well developed study skills, first-class social skills and an awareness of the world around them.’
