St James Senior Girls’ School Sixth Form students have been rewarded with excellent A Level results, a testament to their dedication and of the school’s successful balance between tailored pastoral support and academic inspiration founded on philosophical principles.

The holistic ethos, including daily meditation and school motto which encourages everyone ‘to speak the truth, live generously, and aim for the best’ have underpinned the girls’ learning journeys throughout the school whether they joined in Reception or the Sixth Form.

With nearly 50% of grades at A* or A, it is no surprise that St James students have secured places at leading universities in the UK and overseas. From Mathematics, Engineering, Economics and Medicine to Fine Art, French, Classical Studies and Social Anthropology, leavers have chosen courses as individual as they are. As their recent ISI inspection noted, students at St James, "leave school with the knowledge and skills to make informed choices on future career pathways."

Odile G, overjoyed with her acceptance at King’s College London said, “When I saw I got into King’s I was crying so much that my parents thought I hadn’t gotten into any university!”

Headteacher, Emma Bell, commenting on the results, said: “I could not be prouder of our leavers, whose passion for learning, resilience and hard work has been rewarded. Behind every grade there is always a personal story of progress and determination which makes it such a privilege to be alongside our students as they move onto their chosen destinations. They will forever remain part of our community as they continue their journeys into the world as St James alumnae and members of our ‘Seventh Form’.”

Anna D, a student who will go on to study History of Art at University of St Andrews after having achieved two A* and one A grade (Economics, History of Art and Computer Science), said, “The school was very supportive when I first came from Ukraine, as English was my third language and I was still finishing my Ukrainian exams. It was difficult, but being so welcomed and supported by the students and teachers really helped me. I’m very happy.”

Hazel G and Skye R, both received A* in Hinduism, and took the same three A Levels. Hazel said: “It was amazing to have Skye by my side during my Sixth Form years, and we felt really lucky to have had such supportive teachers.”

Headteacher, Emma Bell, said: “We wish leavers every success for their future, and we feel privileged to have seen them flourish academically but also in all other areas of the St James education. With their varied and unique interests, the community they have built, and the leadership skills they have developed, we are certain that all will grow and shape the future.”
