Queen Anne’s School in Reading is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our outgoing Upper 6 (Year 13) students. Having powered through the challenges of recent years, the 2024 cohort has delivered fabulous results, with 84% A*-C grades and 36% A*-A.

Queen Anne’s students will be furthering their studies at an excellent range of universities including Exeter, Durham, LSE, Bath, King’s College London and many more Russell Group universities. Keira Barton, (pictured with her parents) a high level trampolinist who joined Queen Anne’s from Lambrook School accomplished a fantastic A* A, A in Biology, Geography and Psychology and is going to study Biomedical Science at the University of York. Ella Barker, (pictured with Lara, Keira and Rebecca) who joined Queen Anne’s in 2018 and is also a high level trampolinist, will go on to study Law at the University of Bath after achieving A*, A*, A.

Queen Anne’s students often choose to study and pursue STEM subjects with increasing popularity, including medicine pathways. Congratulations must go to Georgia Gilbert, who joined Queen Anne’s in L4 (Year 7) from the Manor Prep, and gained a well-deserved A, A, A. Georgia served as Deputy Head Girl at Queen Anne’s this year and will be studying Medicine at Plymouth University after a gap year. Rebecca Loader, (pictured with her parents and housemistress Mrs Sophie Birkbeck) who joined Queen Anne’s from Maltman’s Green School in 2017, secured her place to study Environmental Science at the University of Birmingham. Helen Jiang, from Hong Kong, has secured a place at the London School of Economics and Political Science to study Environment and Sustainable Development with Economics.

A notable achievement came from Katie Wilkinson, (pictured with Head of School, Ms Elaine Purves) who achieved A* A* A including full marks in all her English Literature papers. More of the cohort achieved a clean sweep of A* and A grades, including Aine Madeley, who joined Queen Anne’s from Caversham with 3 A*s and Issy Kelly, from Wargrave, with A*, A*, A.

The PE department were particularly proud of Alice Bruun from Caversham (pictured with Rebecca Loader), who gained an A in English Literature, A in Geography and A in PE and will be studying Physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham. Alice has played a pivotal role in the sports community at Queen Anne’s, including as Sports Prefect and member of the Lacrosse A team.

Criminology students at Queen Anne’s had an excellent year, with 86% achieving an A* or A grade. Mr Ben Stephenson, Teacher of Criminology, Director of Sixth Form and incoming Deputy Head Academic, said: “these results are a testament to our students’ dedication and curiosity. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness their hard work pay off, and I couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments.”

Hilary Jones, (pictured with her daughter, Melissa Jones) a Head of Year and Teacher of Chemistry at Queen Anne’s, said "As both a staff member and a parent at Queen Anne's School, I am beyond proud of my daughter’s outstanding A level results. The nurturing and inspiring learning environment here truly empowers students and is a place where they can be the best they can be. Dedicated teachers support and challenge every student, helping them grow into confident, capable individuals ready to take on the world”. Melissa Jones will be studying English Literature and History at Cardiff University.

Lucy Triptree, who joined Queen Anne’s from St Mary’s Prepatory School, will be studying Business Management with Industrial Experience at the University of Exeter. Lucy will be joining her sister, Sophie, (pictured together) a Queen Anne’s alumna from 2020, who will be entering her final year at Exeter.

Head of School, Ms Elaine Purves said “today we celebrate not just the students’ incredible academic achievements, but the bright futures that lie ahead. Whether they are heading to university or embarking on exciting gap year adventures, our students are future-ready; I wish them all the success and fulfilment they deserve.”
