Chigwell School embarks on the next stage of its strategic focus towards a sustainable future

'Chigwell School moves forward with its sustainability journey.

As we stride towards a more sustainable future, recently, we took a significant step by welcoming well-known consultancy firm, Arup Group, to guide and bolster our environmental endeavours.

Our school community demonstrated its commitment to sustainable practices by hosting comprehensive workshop sessions, attended by a diverse spectrum of engaged participants, ranging from Pre Prep pupils to Sixth Formers, including dedicated staff members and supportive parents.

The workshops proved to be a melting pot of innovative ideas and enthusiastic involvement, with attendees showcasing zeal and contributing a plethora of ingenious solutions. The exchange of ideas and collective enthusiasm underscored a shared commitment to shaping a greener, more sustainable future.

Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming response and the wealth of brilliant ideas, our sustainability champion, Miss Thorogood, conveyed her gratitude about witnessing these concepts materialise into actionable plans. The collaboration with Arup Group is anticipated to harness these ideas into tangible strategies that align with the institution's sustainability objectives.

This alliance signifies a significant milestone in Chigwell School's sustainability journey, symbolising a dedicated effort to incorporate sustainable practices across the entire school. We look forward to implementing these ideas and initiatives, solidifying our stance as a beacon of sustainable education, especially as we move forward toward our 400 year anniversary in 2029.'
