Papplewick community charity walk for Alexander Devine Children's Hospice
The Papplewick community - boys, parents, friends, relations and staff and families came together on Sunday 23rd April for their annual charity walk in Windsor Great Park in aid of Alexander Devine Children's Hospice.
It was particularly poignant this year in that one of the Papplewick sisters Talia and her family have already been given immense support from the charity and Talia was actually present at the walk.
Certain areas of the Great Park were cordoned off at the last minute by the Crown Estate due sodden ground, so the route was revised finally enabling everyone to walk the 8 miles to and from Windsor (with a refreshment stop along the way!) Prepared for torrential rain there was consolation in that there was only a bit of drizzle which made conditions better than expected and in true Papplewick style enthusiastic 'hikers' came out in force. The total sum raised was over £17000.
Headmaster, Tom Bunbury said 'The Alexander Devine Children's Hospice is the most wonderful charity providing specialist care and support to children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions together with their families across Berkshire and into surrounding counties. We were proud to be able to offer support and typically our Papplewick parents and boys were extremely generous with their support and donations.
