Upper Sixth celebrate world class university offers
Congratulations to our Upper Sixth students on an impressive range of offers from UK, US and international universities, including 45 offers from Oxbridge and top US institutions.
One in ten students have received offers from Oxford and Cambridge, with 23 places offered: 10 at Cambridge and 13 at Oxford. The Cambridge subject offers include Mathematics, Medicine, Natural Sciences, History & Modern Languages, Computer Science and Law. The Oxford subjects include Medicine, PPE, Chemistry, Biology, Philosophy & Italian and History.
To date, our students have received a record 525 offers from UK universities, including 61 from Exeter, 47 from Bath, 44 from Nottingham and 32 from Bristol and other Russell Group universities. We look forward to hearing the outcome of the remaining half of our applications as we proceed through the university offers cycle.
US universities continue to be a popular choice with 55 students applying this year. We are pleased that 18 of our students have so far received a total of 22 offers, of which eight were Early Decision offers, including two from Cornell and two from Barnard, with other Early round offers from the California Institute of Technology, Columbia, Stanford, Georgetown, Dartmouth, the University of Chicago, the University of Southern California and New York University amongst others.
One student has been offered a scholarship from Loyola University, New Orleans. Student athletic recruitment also continues to be a growth area for Sevenoaks and we are pleased that we have a student joining Cornell to play hockey, and a student recruited to play football (soccer) at Dartmouth.
Internationally, offers have also been made to students from ETH Zurich, Bocconi, the University of Amsterdam, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong for Medicine.
Top choice institutions
Mr Jesse Elzinga, Headmaster at Sevenoaks School says, ‘Congratulations to our Upper Sixth who have received an outstanding range of offers from top universities around the world. For 2023 entry, over 20 per cent of the year group have applied to at least one country aside from the UK, ably supported by our international careers advisors. We encourage students to apply to universities that are the best fit for them and we are delighted that Sevenoaks students continue to be so successful at their top choice institutions.’
