Repton Prep Appoints New Head
Mark Shires, Chair of Governors, is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms Victoria Savage as Head of Repton Prep, taking effect from September 2022.
Ms Savage was educated at Edinburgh University and the Royal Academy of Music, and is currently the Head of Sarum Hall School, London. She was previously Deputy Head and Acting Head at Newland House School, London and prior to that Director of Music at the Dragon School, Oxford. Her wealth of leadership experience across both boarding and day prep schools, as well as her passion for formative years education, perfectly places Ms Savage to take the helm of one of the UK’s leading preparatory schools. She will build on Repton Prep’s outstanding reputation for providing a perfectly balanced education.
Mr Shires commented that Ms Savage’s approach is so well suited to Repton Prep’s most senior role, saying: “Vicky demonstrates a firm and clear management style, placing the pupils at the centre of every decision. Her resilience coupled with the necessary skills to empathise with and inspire pupils, parents and staff was evident throughout the exacting interview process. The glowing references we received confirmed that Vicky will lead Repton Prep to an extremely bright and prosperous future. We very much look forward to introducing her to parents, pupils, staff and the wider Repton Prep community in the near future.”
Repton’s Headmaster Mark Semmence, who led the recruitment process alongside the Governing body, was presented with an outstanding field of candidates: “Vicky’s experience coupled with her dynamic approach and energetic personality set her apart. Her well-defined vision for the future chimes with our ambition for Repton Prep to continue its long-standing tradition of cultivating talent and encouraging every individual to give of their very best, whilst respecting others.”
Ms Savage, said of her appointment: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Repton community as the Head of Repton Prep. When I visited the School, I was struck by the inspirational facilities which enable pupils to learn in a stimulating environment. I am passionate about a relevant and hands-on curriculum that develops all pupils, and enables them to achieve their personal best. Repton offers a broad curriculum underpinned by a strong set of values, and these elements, alongside a focus on pastoral support and wellbeing, chime with my own beliefs for pupil achievement and development. I believe that education has to be constantly moving forwards, reflecting and evolving, in order to meet the needs, personalities and interests of the pupils in an ever-changing and dynamic world; Repton has an exciting future ahead and I am thrilled to be a part of it."
Mark Shires added: “We remain extremely grateful to Interim Head Mark Brotherton who will continue to lead our dedicated teachers and Senior Leadership Team so ably until Vicky joins us in September.”
Ms Savage is a keen runner and has completed four marathons and over thirteen half marathons. This year she walked 65km in a day for Cystic Fibrosis with four other women, raising £10,000. Her other interests include cooking and skiing. She is also Governor of North London Collegiate School, London. Ms Savage is engaged to Mr Chris Harding, a professional musician, and they are due to marry this Christmas, before arriving at Repton Prep as Mr and Mrs Harding in September.
